Psalm 10

Why, Lord, does it look like You are far away? It looks like You hide Yourself in times of trouble but I will not trust
in what it looks like!

In his pride the wicked man hunts down the weak, who are caught in his traps.
He brags about the plans of his heart; he blesses the evil and curses the Lord.

In his pride the wicked man does not look for God; he thinks there is no room for God.

He thinks he is doing very good; he says he does not need Your laws.
He laughs at his enemies.

He says to himself, “Nothing will ever stop me.” He swears, “No one will
ever do me harm.”

His mouth is full of lies and threats; trouble and evil are in his tongue.

Like a lion he waits to catch the helpless; he catches them and drags them away.
His victims are crushed, they
fall under his strength.

He says to himself, “God will never see."
Rise up, Lord! Lift up your hand, O God. Do not forget the helpless.

Why does the wicked man curse God? Why does he say to himself,
“God will not stop me?"

But You see the trouble of the helpless; You will act for them. The victims give themselves to You; You are the
helper of the fatherless.

Break the arm of the wicked man; make him pay for his evil that he thinks
nobody knows about
.
The Lord is King for ever and ever; the nations will be taken away from His land.
You, Lord, hear the prayer of the helpless; Youencourage them, and
You listen to their cry.

You protect the fatherless and the helpless, so that men will
never again hurt them!
