Psalm 4

Please hear me when I call to You, my God. Give me help from my trouble; have mercy on me and hear my prayer.

How long will people turn my glory into shame?

[They look for something to embarass me.]
How long will you people love lies and look for something else to

        take
        the place of God?

[I have something that you do not have.]

The Lord has set apart His faithful servant for Himself; the Lord hears
        when I call to Him.
      [But the things you call
        god
        do not hear you.]

Be afraid and do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts
        and be quiet.

Give God what you owe to Him and stop trusting something else

        instead of the Lord.

        Lord, many are asking,
“Who will show us a better way to live?”

        Let the light of
        Your face shine on us.

[So that we can show them!]

Fill my heart with joy that is more than what my enemies have.
[I will not let the things
        they do worry me.]

In peace I will lie down and sleep, for
You only, Lord, keep me safe!
