Galatians 6

1. My brothers, even if someone falls into sin, those of you who are spiritually minded need to restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Watch yourselves, and do not act like you are any better than him -because it could have been you who fell!

We do not push our Bible knowledge on people who are in trouble, but we nurse them back to health carefully as if we were resetting a bone which is out of place.

Please see that we are not told to spread the news about this problem to everybody we know!!!

If you think you are standing strong, be careful not to fall. 1 Corinthians 10:12

Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do. Luke 23:34

2. Keep helping each other to carry heavy problems and you will be living in the Royal Law of Christ.

There are some burdens that we have to carry alone and there are some burdens that we can help each other to carry.

Jesus taught that we should treat others the way we want to be treated. This has been called the Golden Rule or the Royal Law. Mark 12:33

3. If anyone thinks he is somebody, when he is nobody, he is lying to himself.

Three things that make the earth tremble —no, four it cannot endure: a servant who becomes a king. Proverbs 30:21 – 22

I say to everyone, do not think more highly of yourself than you should think. Romans 12:3

4. Let every man keep testing his own work, and then keep this to yourself and do not compare to someone else's work. Then you will not need anyone else to tell you what a good job you are doing.

Now if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw —each one's work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. 1 Corinthians 3:12 – 13

5. For every man must carry out his own assignment from God.

There was a man who had been sick for 38 years. God gave him this assignment so that when people thought nothing could be done, Jesus would show the power of God by healing him. There is always the chance that God is doing something like this in our lives. John 5:5

There have been missionaries such as Mary Slessor, Gladys Aylward , and Lillian Thrasher, who were thought of as not being able to do the job of a missionary. With God's help they were able to do the impossible.

Each one of us has been given a job that we must finish on this earth. Nobody else can do it for us, but He will do it through us.

With God's help we will do powerful things, for He will trample down our enemies. Psalm 108:13

6. But the one who is being taught the Word should be willing to help his teacher have the things he needs to live.

“God's work, done God's way, will never lack God's supply.” Hudson Taylor

Pay attention to the fact that the teacher does not ask for money. The early Christians rejected any teacher who asked for money for himself. In the temple there was a box and people would give to the Lord's work as the Spirit moved them without being told what to do by men. 2 Kings 12:9

7. Do not let yourself be lied to. God cannot be mocked. Because whatever kind of seed a man plants -that is what will grow.

It is a fact that every single thing (good or bad) that we do to other people the same thingswill be done to us. You cannot plant tomatoes and expect to get corn. In the same way you cannot plant a bad attitude and expect to get a good response.

If God gave you a lot of good seeds (Bible knowledge), what good would it do if you never planted them? If your answer is, "God knows my heart" then ask yourself if that would be a good answer to give to a famer who was paying you to plant his seeds?

Treat other people exactly as you would like to be treated by them. Matthew 7:12

If you give (plant seeds) territory to the devil in your life and never take back this territory, the evil can be passed on to your children. This is known as a generational curse.

Many times when demonic activity is seen in a family and there seems to be no way to make it leave - there is demonic history in the family that needs to be dealt with.

This may include removing things from the home, and confessing the sins of our fathers, and taking back any territory which was given to the devil.

Whoever troubles his own household will inherit the wind. Proverbs 11:29

For they sow the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind. Hosea 8:7

To us, O LORD, belongs open shame, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against you. Daniel 9:8

You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate Me. Exodus 20:5

8. Whoever plant seeds in the flesh will grow the rottenness of the flesh, but whoever plant seeds in the Spirit will, from the Spirit, have the type of life that lasts forever.

Eternal life is a type of life.

Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. Colossians 3:2

9. Let us not get tired of doing what is good, because in God's timing, the seeds that we have planted will grow.

Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. John 12:24

If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength i s small. Proverbs 24:10

10. So when God opens the door, let us do good to all men, especially to other Christians.

God will send people to you. If He sees that you will do what He wants done for them.

A nation that did not know you shall run to you, because of the LORD your God. Isaiah 55:5

Thus says the LORD of hosts: In those days ten men from the nations of every tongue shall take hold of the robe of a Jew, saying, ‘Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.' Zechariah 8:23

11. Look what large letters I am using to write this letter to you with my own hand!

Paul usually used a scribe when he wrote, but is very likely that he wrote the book of Galatians with his own hand.

I, Paul, write this greeting with my own hand. 1 Corinthians 16:21

12 – 13

The ones are always telling you to be circumcised what do they really want? They want to look good in front of the world, and they just want to keep themselves from getting in trouble for following the cross of Christ.

For these men are not even keeping the law of the of Moses themselves, but they want you to be circumcised so they can brag about their control over your lives.

If there is no cross, then there is no Christianity.

Some writing was found on the wall of an ancient school in Rome. It shows a cartoon of a donkey nailed on the cross. Next to the picture it says, " Alexamenos worshiping his god.”

Alexamenos is shown with his hand raised and worshipping the donkey.

In another room. There is also some writing on the wall. It says,"Alexamenos the faithful.”

This gives us some idea of how the true Christians were treated in those days. Paul is saying that the Judaizers were too ashamed of the cross and were hoping to hide behind the Jewish faith.

14. But for me, let it never be that I try to brag about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Through Him, the world is dead to me and I am as a dead man to the world.

Picture yourself in a coffin in a funeral home, there is nothing that the world has which is interesting to you.

For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. Colossians 3:3

But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. 2 Corinthians 4:7

15. So it is not being circumcised or not being circumcised that matters to God, but the power of being born again!

You will find many non-Jewish believers in the Bible (Naaman, Ruth, Rahab, etc.) but you will not see that any of them were told to be circumcised. Here is an example from the New Testament:

Then he brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household.” Acts 16:30 – 31

16. To all those who live by this teaching (who are the true Israel of God), may there be peace and mercy!

Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be like the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured or numbered. And in the place where it wa s said to them, “You are not my people,” it shall be said to them, “Children of the living God!” Hosea 1:10

17. From now on, let no one make any more trouble for me because I am branded in my body with the marks of Jesus.

The Galatians may have seen the things that happened to Paul with their own eyes. Acts 14:19

Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was stoned, three times I was shipwrecked, a night and a day I have spent in the deep. 2 Corinthians 11:25

18. My brothers, may the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your Spirit. Amen!

Paul is asking them, one more time, to live by grace and not by Law.

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 2 Corinthians 3:17
