Luke 21

1 – 4

Jesus saw some rich people putting their gifts into the Temple money box. Then Jesus saw a poor widow. She put two small copper coins into the box. He said, “I tell you the truth. This poor widow gave only two small coins.

But she really gave more than all those rich people. The rich have plenty; they gave only what they did not need. This woman is very poor, but she gave all she had. And she needed that money to live on.”

God does not look at the how much you gave but at what was in your heart as you gave it. This woman must have been asking God to help her in an emergency because she gave all that she had.

5 – 6

Some of the followers were talking about the Temple and how it was decorated with beautiful stones and gifts offered to God.
But Jesus said, “The time will come when all that you see here will be destroyed. Every stone will be thrown down to the ground. Not one stone will be left on another!”

Jerusalem and the Temple were destroyed in 70 A.D. when the Romans were tired of the Jews always fighting against them. The Roman soldiers burned the Temple and then they saw that gold was running into the cracks of the stones so they pulled them apart to get the stones. All that can be seen today are some of the lowest foundation stones.

7 – 9

Some followers asked Jesus, “Teacher, when will these things happen? What will show us that it is time for them to take place?”

Jesus said, “Be careful! Do not be fooled. Many people will come using my name. They will say, ‘I am the Christ’ and, ‘The right time has come!’ But don’t follow them. When you hear about wars and riots, do not be afraid. These things must happen first. Then the end will come later.”

There are already many groups who say that Jesus is with them and will soon show Himself. Matthew shows us that every eye will see Him so there is no way that Jesus will come and hide Himself with some crazy group of people.

10 – 11

Then he said to them, “Nations will fight against other nations. Kingdoms will fight against other kingdoms. There will be great earthquakes, sicknesses, and other terrible things in many places. In some places there will be no food for the people to eat. Fearful events and great signs will come from heaven.

We already see small wars all around the world. There are earthquakes no in places that have never had one before. There are more people without food now than at any time in the world’s history.

12 – 15

But before all these things happen, people will arrest you and treat you cruelly. They will judge you in their synagogues and put you in jail. You will be forced to stand before kings and governors.

They will do all these things to you because you follow me. But this will give you an opportunity to tell about me. Do not worry about what you will say. I will give you the wisdom to say things so that none of your enemies will be able to show that you are wrong.

There are times when God puts words in your mouth and you do not have to think about what you are going to say. Walk close with the Lord so that He can use you in this way.

16 – 19

Even your parents, brothers, relatives and friends will turn against you. They will kill some of you. All people will hate you because you follow me. But none of these things can really harm you. You will save yourselves by continuing strong in your faith through all these things.

Today we already see family members hurting each other. The devil wants good Christian children to be hurt by their parents or each other so that he can fill them with bitterness. Walk as if you are in a field of bombs! Ephesians 5:15

20 – 24

When you see armies all around Jerusalem, then you will know that it will soon be destroyed. At that time, the people in Judea should run away to the mountains. The people in Jerusalem must get out. If you are near the city, don’t go in! These are the days of punishment to make come true all that is written in the Scriptures.

At that time, it will be hard for women who are pregnant or have nursing babies! Great trouble will come upon this land, and God will be angry with these people. Some will be killed by the sword and taken as prisoners to all nations. Jerusalem will be crushed by non-Jewish people until their time is over.

Those who are left behind on the earth will be hunted by the antichrist, God has made a place for the Jews to hide. God cares about the things the Jews will have to run away from even though they waited until the very last days to see the truth!

25 – 28

Amazing things will happen to the sun, moon, and stars. On earth, nations will be afraid because of the roar and fury of the sea. They will not know what to do. People will be so afraid they will faint. They will wonder what is happening to the whole world. Everything in the sky will be changed.

Then people will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these things begin to happen, don’t fear. Look up and hold your heads high because the time when God will free you is near!”

God loves people and He will show many warnings in the sky to get people to pay attention. These things will cause some people to start looking for God and other people will believe that these happen for some other reason.

This is why the world wants to make people believe that there are other kinds of life on other planets. This way they can explain away everything that God does and say that these things came from somewhere else. Isaiah 13:10; 34:4

29 – 31

Then Jesus told this story: “Look at the fig tree and all the other trees. When their leaves appear, you know that summer is near. In the same way, when you see all these things happening, then you will know that God’s kingdom is coming very soon.

Already we see a spirit of evil spreading over the earth like never before. Men are plainly saying that killing and burning cities is good. Government leaders are saying that these evil things are good. Killing babies in the worst possible way is now called good.

32 – 33

“I tell you the truth. All these things will happen while the people of this time are still living! The whole world, earth and sky, will be destroyed; but the Words I have said will never be destroyed!

When we see things starting then we know that the last days will be in our lifetime.

34 – 36

Be careful! Do not spend your time feasting and drinking. Or do not be too busy with worldly things. If you do that, you will not be able to think straight. And then that day might come when you are not ready. It will close like a trap on all people on earth.

So be ready all the time. Pray that you will be strong enough to escape all these things that will happen. And pray that you will be able to stand before the Son of Man.”

The thing that makes the most sense is that God does a lot of things during the feasts of Israel. Be awake in these last days to see what God may do during these times! We are being warned as we see these things growing and we cannot sleep through these last days!

Here is the best way to be ready: make sure that you have given your life to Christ and then watch and pray!

Keep watching! For you do not know what day your Lord is coming. Matthew 24:42

37 – 38

During the day, Jesus taught the people in the Temple. At night he went out of the city and stayed on the Mount of Olives. Every morning all the people got up early to go to the Temple to listen to him.

Jesus went out at night to avoid trouble. Do not go looking for trouble!
